

Cal Poly will host “Fight for Wrestling” a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event on Saturday, May 22 in Mott Gym at Cal Poly. The event is open to the public, and all proceeds benefit Cal Poly Wrestling.
Fans will watch Casey Noland of Atascadero, Calif., and a pioneer in female MMA, take on Jenny Trujillo of San Jose, Calif.
Also fighting on the card:
Olympic gold medal wrestler and a founding member of MMA, Jeff Blatnick, will be on hand for in-ring interviews.
Cal Poly Wrestling has produced 110 All-Americans. Cal Poly Wrestlers that have crossed over to MMA include former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion of the World, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell, WEC and MMA Prodigy Antonio Banuelos, and WEC fighter Chad Mendes.
John Azevedo currently coaches Cal Poly Wrestling and was named PAC-10 coach of the year for 2009-2010. Mark Perry, two-time NCAA wrestling champion, serves as assistant coach.
Tickets for Fight for Wrestling are $35 for general admission, $55 for reserved bleachers, floor, and chairback seating, $75 for VIP chairback seating, and $25 for Cal Poly students with a valid student ID.
